Celebrate the return of warmer weather with hands-on, seasonal approaches to teaching outdoors! This professional development day focuses on how to make the most of spring and summer environments for engaging, inquiry-based learning. We’ll explore topics like biodiversity, storytelling with nature, data collection, and gardening as a cross-curricular opportunity—connecting science, health, and citizenship through planting and caring for living things. Whether you’re new to outdoor education or looking to grow your practice, this day will offer inspiration, collaboration, and practical ideas to take learning outside. Be ready to stay outdoors for the majority of the day, rain or shine.
April 2026
At 18, a person becomes an adult and has all the responsibilities and freedoms of an adult. However, a person does not get all of this at once. Indeed, from year to year, a young person accumulates freedoms and responsibilities in society. As students spend long hours under your supervision at school, it is essential to explain to them what they can do or what he or she should be responsible for.
This teaching toolkit includes a PowerPoint presentation which has a lot of information in the notes. In these notes, we explain in more detail the information given in the slides, offer avenues for further reflection and provide legal sources. To ensure that the students have properly integrated their new knowledge, the student’s guide offers many activities.
Duration: 6 periods (see timeline below)
Audience: Elementary cycle 3 and Secondary cycle 1 (grades 5-8)
Recording: Teachers who register will receive a recording of the virtual meeting and virtual sessions.
Deadline: Please note that registration will close on April 1, 2026.
